If I lived in a snowglobe...

One of my favorite things about being an educator is teaching children how to write. Not so much in the letter formation way (although that can be super fun as well!) but more so how it allows me to connect with my students. Through their writing, I feel like I am always learning more about them- who they are, what they love, and the things that mean the most to them!

Writing was always my favorite subject growing up and although I've made the jump from 'student' to 'teacher', my love of writing hasn't changed a bit. Writing allows students to showcase their fabulous imaginations, demonstrate and share their creativity, as well as express themselves through their written output. With my current superstars, we do a lot of prompt writing to get our wonderful brains thinking about a particular topic, subject, idea, etc. I've also found that I can seamlessly incorporate the mechanics of writing [like capitalization and punctuation] when they are excited about what they're working on.

Our latest prompt, found us living inside a snow globe...and with the wintery weather we've been experiencing here in Massachusetts, it wasn't that much of a stretch! : )

*My students also requested that I record my own clip for our video- so with their help and guidance on what I should say, I joined in on the fun! Thank you so much to Mrs. Baker for recording us! : )

Google Classroom

After becoming a Google Certified Educator this summer, I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate Google Classroom into my daily practice this year. After many amazingly supportive conversations with our Digital Technology Specialist, Mrs. Baker, (who is just the absolute best! : ) we completed our first assignment this morning.

I don't want to speak for my students, but I think it's safe to say that we are all totally hooked. Not only does it allow me (as their teacher) to push out exciting, interactive, and differentiated activities/videos/assignments, but it also allows my students to showcase their impressive technology (and academic) skills in a very meaningful way. We can't wait for our next Google Classroom assignment!

Guess My Number!

Hi Fuller Meadow Families,

I hope this post finds you well and enjoying your Friday. It has been a great week here at school and we are all gearing up for a wonderful weekend (and hopefully a big Patriots victory in the AFC Championship game : ).

I wanted to take a moment to share an activity that we did this morning- that is quickly becoming one of our favorites. It's called 'Guess My Number' and players must try and figure out exactly what number was chosen by listening carefully to the clues given by the leader. Can you figure out what the lucky number from this morning was?!

Here are the clues...
1. I am a number between 1-100
2. I am less than 50
3. I am between 1-10
4. I am an ODD number
5. I am less than 7 and greater than 3

Did you solve it?! If you picked the number 5, you are correct! : )

The students LOVE to play this game and it's a great way for them to utilize their math strategies, skills, and vocabulary.
